Mandatory Bundles Are Coming for hospitals, and we prepared for it
CMS recently announced its intent to make episodic (bundled) payments a mandatory program in 2023. This move by CMS introduces an eight-figure risk to most hospitals and will require significant resource investments and clinical behavior change to be successful. we have benefitted from six years of episodic payment trial and error while managing over 400,000 acute episodes and $10 billion of spending.
